Springboard Atlantic has received $9.2 million to continue delivering technology transfer services to its 19 member institutions. The funding from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency accounts for 65% of Springboard’s funding, with the remaining 35% derived from its member universities and colleges. An estimated 20% of all private sector R&D in Atlantic Canada is performed in partnership with post-secondary institutions compared to 5% for the rest of Canada. Since 2007, Springboard has helped create 126 companies, generating more than $12 million in licensing and royalty income.
