Derland receives $9.5 million in federal assistance

Derland Aerospace Canada has received $9.5 million in funding from Technology Partnerships Canada to develop a lighter more powerful transmission for the AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter. The R&D project will be conducted in conjunction with The Boeing Co, which is producing the aircraft in Mesa AZ. Milton ON-based Derlan plans to use advanced fear-gear transmissions - a first in the aerospace sector - which use advanced materials and must be manufactured to high tolerances and for use in high operating temperatures. The Longbow is a fourth generation attack helicopter....
