Dr Philip Sherman has been appointed scientific director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research's Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes, effective January 1/09. Sherman holds a Canada Research Chair in gastrointestinal disease at the Univ of Toronto and is a professor of paediatrics, microbiology and dentistry at the Hospital for Sick Kids.
