The Automotive Supplier Innovation Program (ASIP) has awarded $1.9 million to Vancouver-based Nano One Materials Corp to support the development and production of battery materials at its new pilot plant. Nano One produces low-cost, high-performance energy storage materials for batteries. It also has a range of nanostructured composite materials designed to reduce the production costs of batteries that are longer lasting, easier to charge and produce more energy. The pilot facility will simulate full-scale production of lithium-ion cathode materials and showcase the company's patented processing technology. ASIP was announced in Budget 2015 to address a gap between early-stage basic research and pre-commercial development.
