New research chair named in honour of Dr Michael Smith

The EJLB Foundation and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) are contributing $1.35 million to establish a new research chair in neurosciences and mental health in honour of the late Dr. Michael Smith. The chair will be funded through a $1-million endowment grant from the EJLB Foundation, a $300,000 establishment grant from CIHR and a yearly $50,000 support grant from the CIHR Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction. Following an international competition, the chair will be awarded for a five-year, non-renewable term. The Royal Society of Canada will manage the endowment grant and participate in the selection of the chair holder, the first time it has taken on such a role....
