Nortel boosts Chinese R&D capacity

Nortel Networks Corp has announced a US$200-million investment in its R&D capabilities in China. By the end of 2003, Nortel will double its Chinese R&D workforce and begin construction on a 55,000-sq-m campus in Beijing’s Chao Yang district. The first phase of 27,000-sq-m will be complete in late 2004. Nortel’s R&D activities in China include work to support Internet-protocol-based voice and multimedia services, third generation wireless services, and next generation networking….
