The National Research Council (NRC) will spend $60 million on upgrading facilities across the country. Funding for the eight projects comes from a $380-million commitment made last fall for major repairs and upgrading of federal laboratories and research facilities (R$, November 27/14). They include general upgrades ($22 million), sewer work at NRC's main Ottawa campus ($12 million), energy retrofits on buildings across the country ($10.2 million), an electrical distribution upgrade at NRC's aerospace wind testing facility ($5.6 million), a flexible research facility in Ottawa ($3.1 million) and an upgrade to the Canadian Centre for Housing Technologies ($1.3 million) allowing it to launch new demonstration projects....
